3d Blue Chip: South Regional Camp Standouts

Pierce Dalton, Defense, Briarwood Christian (Ala.)/Bamalax and 3d Georgia, 2020

An enormous, athletic kid who would tower over most high school seniors already, Dalton is a raw, but wildly intriguing prospect who stands at least 6-foot-4 and already has the range of some of the biggest longstick midfielders in pro and college lacrosse. He’s hard-nosed and determined and he clearly takes each shift seriously, always going hard at his man and playing tough, physical lacrosse until the whistle. Dalton can get his stick out and onto the hands of the ball carrier quickly and naturally, able to push the perimeter and stress out attackmen behind the cage with his gargantuan frame and aggressive, albeit sometimes kamikaze-like play. On a play when he slid to a smaller attackman, it was an ugly encounter to say the least as Dalton is that much more powerful and larger than the others in his peer group at this point. He will need to learn how to control his big, long body on his approach and on his lateral movements. But his potential is grand, with high-end athleticism and vitals to work with. He raised heck on some attackmen at the 3d Blue Chip South Regional Camp and, with improved footwork, patience and field sense, he could turn into a highly effective defensive prospect early in his scholastic days.
